PMI and Google Workspace have a strong role in fostering global digital transformation journeys. To elevate remote and hybrid work experiences, and promote best practices, Workspace along with AppSheet join PMI Citizen Partner Developer Program.

Today, we are pleased to announce that Google Workspace has joined the Project Management Institute (PMI) Citizen Developer™ Partner Program. By doing so, we are joining organizations from across the globe who are supporting not only the future of work, but the empowerment of the workers who are leading this charge.

PMI has developed a new suite of resources—called PMI Citizen Developer™—to support individuals and organizations as they embark on their digital transformation journeys. Created with the no-code and low-code community in mind, this first of its kind resource enables a “hyper-agile” way of working to promote best practices on responsible scaling.

“Technologies like AppSheet are democratizing application development and innovation,” said Sam Sibley, Global Head of Citizen Developer at PMI. “No code/low code technology has become a key enabler for faster and more impactful change, allowing organizations to stay relevant by becoming more agile and resilient. Organizations like Google who are at the forefront of technological development are uniquely positioned to support the Citizen Development movement.”

From on-boarding to security at scale, there is no one-size fits all- each organization has a unique set of business needs for consideration. Forrester recently recognized that the demand for citizen developers has reached a critical mass, stating in their report Forrester Wave™: Low-code Platforms for Business Developers, Q4 2021, “This trend is logical, necessary, represents a competitive advantage for firms that do it, and is key to the future of work.”

As a leader in technology for business developers, we’re excited to join the global network of no-code and low-code technologies that are supporting organizations as they build their own future of work. If you’re curious about how you can apply the PMI Citizen Developer™ framework to your organization with no-code, join Google Workspace at PMI’s annual PMXPO virtual event this week.

Today’s modern workers are redefining organizations as we know it. They are no longer tied to a work desk or bound by geographies.

And that’s how they ensure that your business is always-on, all the time, everywhere. This, in turn, points to the fact that today’s organizations need to ensure they create conducive environments to help employees collaborate and work no matter where they are.

A Forrester Research study has found that today’s employees see their responsibilities changing and demand flexible, collaborative, data-rich work environments in return.

Four in five employees (80%) agree that they need instant access to information to succeed in their jobs. Two-thirds (66%) also say that their employers expect them to get work done wherever they are. However, modern workers see this as an opportunity rather than a burden; 77% prefer technologies that provide flexibility in where they can do their jobs and 69% say that being able to access company resources gives them a better work-life balance.

The ability to collaborate with colleagues in-person or remotely is still key, and 71% of workers agree that technologies that help them do this are critical to success.

Download the report to find out what impact this has on your business and why you need to listen to your new-age cloud workers.

Snap and Google Cloud have joined forces to launch a global upskilling initiative. Learn how this partnership will revolutionize workforce development and impact the future of work in this blog.

Snap inc., the developer of the Snapchat platform, has become a global leader in the social media industry. Snap runs its business on Google Cloud, and relies on Premium Support to optimize its cloud business imperatives. Snap sought new ways to extract business value from their cloud data, so turned to their assigned Google Technical Account Management team to develop a means to strengthen and expand cloud skills to meet their goal.  The Technical Account Managers (TAMs) serve as an extension of the Snap Engineering Program Management team to deliver deep expertise of Google Cloud and guide Snap in their cloud journey including mapping the essential cloud skills for Snap to achieve broader business strategy.  Since Snap employees had varying levels of cloud expertise, it meant that their TAM team needed to design a tailored learning program to optimally meet Snap’s needs.

The TAM team engaged with Google Cloud Customer Experience (CCE) team which included cloud support, learning, consulting, customer success and customer insight and advocacy services. The Google team leveraged a Skill Training Survey for the Snap team to identify, extract and map existing skills to the level of targeted cloud skills that would enable them to design a learning curriculum to boost employee productivity, enable efficient scaling and strengthen the mitigation of technical issues while optimizing their environment for issue prevention. In addition, Google Cloud offered instructor-led virtual training focused on Looker, Kubernetes and others topics of interest and a tailored Snap Global Training Program was launched in the last quarter of 2022.

By including training for Looker, it expanded Snap employees’ ability to reach data-driven decisions. Snap also took advantage of the Google Cloud Skills Boost licenses delivering access to a learning platform with over 700 courses and learning labs,  included with Premium Support.

Next, the TAMs and CCE teams were tasked to raise internal awareness of the global Snap training program, so they developed a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to drive promotion over a twelve week period to prospective trainees through newsletters, email groups, Slack channels, Engineering meetings, and an internal site dedicated to Snap training resources.

“Partnering with Google to provide Snap engineers with learning opportunities aligns with Snap’s values of Kind, Smart and Creative.  Investing in growing our team member’s skills helps them personally advance and helps our business achieve our goals.”—Michele Vaughan, Snap Engineering Program Manager

The Google-led Snap Global Training Program includes hands-on, instructor-led training, in-person gamified Cloud Hero Learning Events, and access to on-demand Google Cloud Skills Boost labs. Over 100 trainees at Snap initially participated in the instructor-led training, and more than 500 employees completed the on-demand labs. This training program has enabled Snap employees to develop and strengthen skills in the targeted cloud areas including data visualization, AI and ML, and Kubernetes. In addition, the program ignited a Looker Advisory Professional Services initiative to advise Snap with best practices and improvements for the usage of Looker. These skills enable Snap to extract increased value for their cloud data and guide the future of their business for sustaining a competitive advantage in a dynamic marketplace.

Enhancing SAP Build Process Automation with Google Document AI and Google Workspace

Streamline your SAP build process with the power of Google Document AI and Workspace. Discover how this integration can improve accuracy and efficiency in your organization.

SAP Build Process Automation is designed to optimize business processes and boost efficiency. The platform helps both business users and developers alike digitize core workflows and incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into time consuming and error-prone manual tasks.

All digital paths can benefit from automation. The pandemic, supply chain shortages, and other disruptive events have upped the pressure on businesses and their workers to perform in more efficient and flexible ways.

Google Cloud and SAP have responded by providing an integrated toolbox that can fundamentally change the way businesses operate — all while creating value for their customers.

With a focus on taking process automation to an even more advanced level and removing inefficiencies from workflows, SAP has introduced integrations with Google Cloud Document AI, and Google Workspace for SAP Build Process Automation customers. This integration can reduce or eliminate many repetitive and error-prone tasks, so that companies can help save money, operate more productively, and scale more easily.

AI unleashes innovation

Continuous advances in digital systems and advanced technology introduce new opportunities to rethink workflows. SAP recognizes the role that AI-powered automation can play in transforming workflows, and that the benefits of doing so extend beyond basic time savings and cost cutting. By plugging Google Cloud Document AI into the application, SAP Build Process Automation’s low-code, no-code platform enables SAP to help its customers in lines of business and IT integrate multiple applications while democratizing access to governed machine learning technology.

Machine learning and process automation can drive efficiency with SAP S/4HANA

Customers using SAP S/4HANA can build workflow improvements into all major core processes, such as order entry, invoice creation, asset posting, and many others, helping them to be faster and more efficient in the process. Google Cloud Document AI extracts key elements — including addresses, article numbers, price, quantity, and more — within emails, PDFs, handwritten notes, and other formats.

Integrated automation can drive results for invoice and purchase order processing

An example of the improvements these integrations have made to SAP Build Process Automation is the use of AI, productivity tools, and automation for processing purchase orders. In the past, workers had to manually select relevant orders in their Gmail accounts and extract key data from large PDF files, including the order date, supplier details, article numbers, quantity, unit price, and the total amount. Then, workers would have to enter all of the individual line items one by one into the SAP S/4HANA system.

Today, through SAP’s integrated automation platform, customers can automatically extract and organize data by Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Gmail) and Document AI. This works by extracting data contained in Gmail attachments, downloading it into Google Drive and extracting fields using Document AI’s pretrained models. The tool then enters the consolidated order information from Google Sheets into SAP S/4HANA. For example, the Canton of Zurich in Switzerland experienced a significant reduction of workload to process compensation forms once the organization implemented this automation. Furthermore, implementing the automation can avoid audit and compliance issues, and improve data quality.

The screenshot below shows how a workflow operates within the SAP Build Process Automation software.

Sales, procurement, finance, and other functions are also able to handle more strategic work that delivers greater value to customers with these SAP and Google Cloud integrations. They’ve also boosted both security and regulatory compliance for customers, including those in the financial services space.

For example, the Google Cloud Document AI technology can process thousands of supply chain invoices, validates and systematically approves them. And, over time, the machine learning and AI components improve the analysis process and ensure that data processed with SAP Build Process Automation is adhering to a company’s best practices and essential regulatory requirements.

SAP and Google Cloud put automation to work

Achieving the most accurate, efficient business processes is possible with an automation framework that embeds collaboration and productivity applications while giving lines of business and IT users access to machine learning technology. SAP Build Process Automation combined with Google Cloud Document AI, and Google Workspace has proven to be a catalyst in driving innovation and business transformation for customers across multiple industries, leading to an average of 22% to 30% faster time to market, and significant financial gains, including up to 20% accounts payable savings potential. An example of these improvements includes those experienced by TasNetworks, which had a 25% reduction in back-office processing efforts after implementing these technologies.

On-Demand Webinar: How Technology is Creating a Smaller World to Help Businesses Grow Big

Consider this: In a pre-cloud world, it took the telephone 75 years, automobiles 62 years, and TVs 14 years to reach 50 million customers. But today’s innovations have narrowed that gap.

In comparison, it took Netflix only 7 years to reach 50 million customers, while Twitter got there in just 9 months! What’s changed? The advent of the Internet and, with it, cloud computing.

That means organizations need to embrace change quickly and think differently. That’s why companies like Colgate-Palmolive, that pre-date the telephone even, are today looking to be cloud-first. That’s a big reason why the company moved its 28,000 employees on to a cloud collaboration platform in just six months.

As a result, organizations like Colgate-Palmolive are now able to increase reach, ideate faster, and be more productive. Google Hangouts from Google Cloud is helping these organizations get there.

With the ability to get on immersive video conferencing meetings, ideate in real-time through Google Cloud’s Jamboard—a digital, smart, whiteboard—your teams have an incredible opportunity to drive your business ahead.

In this webinar, Sandy Jones, Field Sales Representative, Google Cloud, shares how cloud-based collaboration tools are redefining traditional businesses and why they are in the race to become cloud-first.
